Here’s Your Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist

Spring is finally upon us, which means it’s time to give your home a deep cleaning. If it’s been a while since you refreshed your space, you might not know where to start—however, if you work room by room, you’ll get the job done in a flash. Here’s a quick spring cleaning checklist to get you started.

Every Room

Although some rooms have specific needs, there are a few things you’ll want to clean in every space throughout your home. Start by washing baseboards, floors, window sills, doors, and walls. These are some common spots that get neglected in every room, so now is the time to clear off the grime.

Don’t forget to wash your windows (and blinds) to really let more light into your home. It’s never a bad idea to check all overhead lights, dust them to perfection, and replace any burnt out bulbs, either.

Kitchen

If you use your kitchen at all, it could probably use a good tidying. Food splatters, spills, and other messes can make it hard to keep your kitchen clean, but you can still refresh you space by taking a few steps.

First, clean out your pantry and fridge and disinfect all surfaces. From there, you can wash your cabinets, shine your countertops, and even deep clean your oven. If you really want to go above and beyond, try moving your appliances and vacuuming up any lingering messes underneath them.

Living Room

Your living room probably sees a lot of traffic, so you’ll want to get it looking its best. Vacuuming your carpet is a good place to begin—you may even want to hire a carpet cleaner if you have a lot of stains. You can also use your vacuum to get rid of any dust and debris on upholstery or lamp shades. When it comes to pillows and throw blankets, consider using a steam cleaner to freshen them up a bit.

If you have hardwood floors, it’s worth mopping and waxing them to perfection. Your wood furniture could use some love, too. A little old-fashioned furniture polish can make a huge difference!

Bathrooms

Let’s face it—bathrooms can get a little yucky. You probably clean these spaces regularly, but it’s still worth taking things a step forward. Here are a few things you can do to get your bathrooms looking shiny and new.

If it’s been a while since you’ve washed your towels and shower curtain, now is the time to do so. Dirty toilets, showers, and sinks might look bad, and they can also smell pretty unpleasant. Don’t forget to clean and disinfect them…but don’t neglect your decor, either. Soap dispensers, towel racks, and window treatments are also worth cleaning, too.

Bedrooms

Bedroom

We spend nearly a third of our lives asleep, so it’s crucial to get our bedrooms in tip-top shape. If you’re not sure where to start, pop all of your bedding into the wash. This is a great opportunity to flip your mattress, too!

As you vacuum, dust, or mop your bedroom, don’t neglect your closets. Try decluttering your wardrobe and donating anything you don’t want to a local charity. If you have any lingering junk under your bed, clear it out! You probably won’t even realize how much extra stuff you have until you get rid of it.
